March is finally upon us, which means that there is only one month left before classes end! Time flies, but we left the best events for the end of the year!

Next week, forget your GPA and procrastinate in the most productive way by partying with us à la Belle Époque style. Scroll down for more info and more exciting history buff-friendly activities!

The HSA is opening applications for our 2016-2017 executive committee! 

Joining exec is a great way to get involved and meet new people in your major/minor.

Send an email to mcgill.hsa.communications@gmail to ask for the nomination kit and specify which position you would like to run for. This year, all positions are open:

VP Communications
VP Events
VP Academics
VP Finance

It requires a short platform explaining why you’re interested, as well as 20 signatures from other history students students.

Applications are due on March 16th, and can be sent to mcgill.hsa.communications@gmail.com.

Three professors and three students have three minutes each on Friday March 18 over a brown-bag lunch to describe an innovative assignment that worked, including History student Magdalene Klassen-Marshall. Discussion and brainstorming to follow. Student participation welcome.

A joint virtual issue of The American Historical Review and Past & Present

For those interested in the histories of slavery, resistance and the Atlantic world: the journals Past and Present and The American Historical Review have teamed up to create a virtual special issue on slavery and antislavery in the Atlantic world. The issue makes important past articles free for downloading with two new scholarly introductions.

Bonnie Folkins Illustrated Lecture | The Golden Eagle Hunters: A Kazakh Photo Essay

The Friends of the McGill Library are pleased to present an illustrated lecture by artist and photographer, Bonnie Folkins. The lecture promises to be an illuminating look at her travels with the Kazakh nomadic people across Mongolia and Kazakhstan. The artist has ridden horseback over 1,100 miles in a single journey through Mongolia and over 2,100 miles on multiple trips through Kazakhstan. She is a member of The Long Riders’ Guild, an international association of equestrian explorers and long distance travelers and she was recently elected a fellow of the New York Explorers Club.
